Angelica gigas

A stunning, architectural plant that adds height and drama to a border. It bears exotic-looking, shiny green, divided leaves, the upper ones of which are modified to form inflated purplish sheaths. Dome-shaped heads of plum-purple flowers appear on red-tinted stems. Adored by bees and butterflies. Best planted at the back of a partially shaded, herbaceous or mixed border, in moist, fertile soil. Height 1.5m
