Sage Clary

Salvia sclarea. This sage is more used for medicinal uses rather than culinary. The leaves have a fresh clean fragrance. Although this sage is short lived it is still a worthy addition to the herb bed or the ornamental bed. Height 50cm. Full sun. Good for bees and butterflies.

Medicinally the plants is most commonly used as an essential oil due the component sclareol, which mimics estrogen in the body and therefor used to treat symptoms of the menopause.
