Dill

Anethum graveolens. Both the seed and the leaves can be used. Seeds have a much sharper taste. Use with grilled or boiled fish, stews, rice dishes or to white wine vinegar for dill vinegar. Do not plant near fennel as they will cross pollinate and muddle the flavours. Prefers a well drained position in the shade and with poor soil. We always plant some in the flower beds for the acid yellow umbel flowers. Height 75cm-1.5m (depending on conditions). Medicinally is used for upset stomachs and insomnia.
